exchange 2010 backup software?

Hi Peeps..

so i see that acronis doesn't have an exchange 2010 backup product yet...and symantec backup exec rather VERY complex.

any suggestions as to backups with this?

we store our exchange inside a vhd file on win2k8r2

Backup Exec works very nicely after you've read the manual. The built in GRT technology is great.

Well cant you tell backup excec to just make a backup of the virtual hdd using shadow copy ?

Otherwise you can just use a shadow copy command and copy the file elsewhere using a batch script then tell your current backup system to pick it up from there ?

I'm not an exchange expert so i'm not sure if you can re attach the mailboxes (Think its .log and .edb files) from the vhd filesystem.

I suggest Handy Backup Server for Exchange 2010 backup, it provides hot backup technology and vast customizable options.

As an aside, Acronis add Exchange 2010 support in ABR11 Update 1 due in early December, I'm told.

I haven't used Windows Backup for Exchange 2010 myself (we use Commvault Systems - Galaxy)

...but some mates say windows backup is great (and free).

Sadly there's no API so you cannot restore a single mailbox/single message.
Those features cost $$$.

Hi, why don't you try the built-in Windows Server Backup utility? It can free backup Exchange Server to safeguard your Exchange Server if you don't ask for more advanced features.
