Please can someone assist? Our company used to use Telkom but about two months ago we switched to Neotel. Round about this time my boss and I could no longer receive or send e-mails on our iPhone 4s phones (this only pertains to our work - Exchange - e-mail accounts - Hotmail and Gmail work fine). I initially thought it might have something to do with ios6, but an IT Manager told my boss that it has something to do with Neotel's protocol but I spoke to Neotel today and they can't assist. Everyone at the office who receive their e-mails on their Blackberry have not experienced any problems, it's only with the iPhones. We are both going on leave tomorrow and urgently need to be able to access our mail on our phones - please help!

I'm assuming your Exchange Server is based locally at your offices then? Did the server address change when moving over to Neotel - are you using a Dynamic IP service or fixed IP?

Thanks very much for the quick response. Yes, our server is based locally at our offices. The first thing I asked our IT Manager was whether the server address changed and he said no. I'm not 100% sure about the IP, but I'm relatively sure it's fixed.

Well your IT manager should know what's going on there, but don't see why Neotel would be interfering with critical services like corporate e-mail unless something is configured incorrectly on their side. This again should be your IT managers job to get this sorted out.

Do you have Outlook web access? You could then just make use of a browser to retrieve your mails while away.

We have asked our IT Manager's help several times but he never got round to it and is now on leave and I've given up! No, I don't have Outlook web access - how can I get this? Thanks!

If OWA (Outlook web app) is activated for your account you can access your mail from a secured webmail app. Usually you can access this from the address: https://your-outlook-ip/owa

Check what address is set on your iPhone and put that ip/address in place of the above, if it works then you sorted otherwise talk to your IT guy and ask him to activate for you.

Tried but doesn't want to work. But thanks for all the assistance, much appreciated!

Do you have a Blackberry server at work?

If you do it means the Blackberries get their email in a different way.

You can go here: https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ to test your connection. You will be testing activesync.

Most of the details you will need can be found if you edit the mailbox settings on you Iphone.

My suspicion would be that the server address used in your phones was never changed to the new IP address of the Neotel connection. The protocol he is talking about is crap. Iphones use port 443 for activesync which is the same port used by all secure sites like banking sites.

Hi, no as far as I know we don't have a Blackberry server but will check tomorrow. It's only our IT Manager that would be able to give me the new ip address hey? My boss has access to the secured onsite server room if the details will maybe reflect somewhere on there and then we can just put the new address into our phones? Thanks for your help!

Sorry one more question - where on my iPhone's e-mail setup does it show and allow me to change the ip address? I only have the option to edit the server and domain details, but neither of these contain the ip address. The only place that I can recall being able to edit an ip address on my iPhone is the wi-fi network. Thanks!

We've found that on the Android and iPhone sets when specifying the server, it sometimes doesn't work when you add the https part in front of the server name eg. it should be mail.yourcompany.co.za instead of https://mail.yourcompany.co.za. Also ask you Exchange admin to make sure Activesync is still enabled on the mail servers.
