I set up an exchange account thing for university, and when it was done, it asked to update some security settings and it wants permission to:

-Erase all data
-Set password rules
-Lock the screen

among other ridiculous things.

I can use IMAP or POP but I wanted to sync the calendar!

Any ideas?

I think this is related to a policy on the university's exchange server.

Is it safe to accept? Should I trust the university not to wipe my phone?

I think it's an Outlook thing because I see there's an option on OWA to actually wipe your phone, i was quite surprised by that.

Yip is a policy setup by the exchange administrator, so if your phone get stolen and there is sensitive company/university data on it they can remote wipe it. standard practice
