Lost and Confused...
Hi guys

I have a user who is having issues with Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2003. Just for the record, no other users on that network are having problems.

This user cannot connect to the exchange server. IP/DNS entries are correct, resinstalled office, created a new profile - no luck.

Am out of ideas, do help please?

Edit: Can ping and browse the server as normal, also nothing has changed. This randomly occured.

have you installed the office 2007 service packs ? , try accessing the user's mail box over Outlook web access , i am sure his profile is not screwed up ......

When you created the new profile does Outlook resolve the exchange server/username by underlining them?

At which point does Outlook not work with Exchange? During the account setup? Do you get an error?

Have you tried Outlook in Safe Mode? Could be an add-in that is causing you grief.

Start > Run, type in outlook /safe and hit OK.

Solved, found that the user had installed some obscure thrid party firewall and than removed it. Somehow, this was preventing Outlook from seeing the exchange server.

Thank you all for your help!

Resolution: Remains of firewall removed, user education done and rights removed to prevent it happening in the future.
