Good day everybody,
We have a hosted exchange solution for our company, used by 4 people. Two of the users (myself and my boss) sits in a building very close to the Exchange provider, while our other two users are off-site and connects via a 512 Kb ADSL connection to the Exchange server (using HTTPS access).
We also use our own domain.
A week or two back we had a few of our clients phone in complaining that they sent us mail, but we haven't replied. We lost quite a few emails - it was just never delivered to us. It seemed as if most emails were sent on the 10th of July (I was out of the country on that day). I've spoken to my ISP, and they said that they had some IS/SAIX interconnection problems during that week, but no other clients of theirs complained. Also that the mail shouldn't have been lost since most email servers should try to resend up to one week.
I've queried some of our clients, asking whether there were any fault reports or error messages. Unfortunately, I couldn't find out anything substantial (since it was a week ago and our clients aren't too computer savvy).
Since then they've set up another MX record to another entry point to the Exchange server on our domain, and upgraded one of their links. Problem is, my boss was furions with this, and still want to know what went wrong and wants a gauranteed service in the future.
Anything else I can query and check up on?
