Exchange Mail thru Blackberry

Yes it does,
Just follow the normal email setup process on the website, it will fail to find your server settings. When it does, click on advanced or manual whatever its called, and choose the mail server as "Outlook Web Access/Exchange" and then continue and give it the required information.

im battling to get microsoft exchange to get working through BIS, i think my company might be blocking the Blackberry IP Range since we have a BES server
The BlackBerry will work with Exchange for POP or IMAP, but your Exchange server has to have those ports open to the Internet, and very few are. There is an app that can use ActiveSync, but it's not free.

These are different services, BIS generally works well with POP3 accounts and is supplied by default from the Mobile Providers.
BES is for corporates running Exchange servers (for instance) and then running a BES server for this interaction, which will run the BlackBerry users. This is to get your company e-mail on your device.
BIS can still be setup for your company e-mail as well, but it is more tricky and your company must, for instance, allow POP3 from outside of the company, etc.
You can also make use of desktop forwarding apps, which I know some BlackBerry users are using. The app checks your mailbox, and then forwards the e-mail to your device - The app needs to run continuously though, which is a downer.

BES needs to be setup on the BES server for your corporate email account. You also need a BEZ enabled Blackberry phone to access the function however with BES Express being free now you don't need BES server licenses or CALs to use the functionality of BES.

Does anyone on this forum manage the messaging infrastructure for a corporate that uses BES? If so did you know that RIM has released a version that is 100% free, no server licensing costs, no CAL costs, it's absolutely free.

After carefull investigation, and I will be running it for a large corporate with about 400 BES users, the only notable items that it doesn't support are the following.
1. No high availability, no hot standby/clustered type environment
2. It doesn't support Lotus Notes/Groupwise, it only supports Exchange and up to version 2010
3. Only supports around 40 IT policies where the full BES supports more than 400
Just thought I would give you guys a heads up so you can get kudos for saving your respective businesses a bit of dosh.

I here you about jumping through hoops to get it working although I must confess Express is very easy.
I originally had it installe on 2008 32bit and had a few issues so I went for 2003 R2 with huge success.
Installed 2003 R2, ran all windows updates that we have authorised in WSUS, installed latest MAPI/CDO then ran BES Express install and installed SQL 2005 Express update 3 as well. 30 minutes later I was adding users. Even better is if I created a duplicate user that already exists on our old BES on the new BES and wait 5 minutes you can see in the last contact date that the new server contacted more recently. Simply delete the account on the old server and allow the new server to deliver email. Worked on 2 users that I've tested with so far.
Looks pretty good to me...
We run it on EXSi and simply use VRanger to snapshot twice a week in case the server fails.

I suppose that's why it wont work. I physically sat down with my IT guys the other day while trying to configure my Exchange mail through the BIS service. They couldn't figure it out as well...
Haven't heard of ActiveSync... certainly not BlackBerry... are you sure about this?
Can you access your exchange email via a normal browser on Outlook Web Access?
There's an app that does it, but damned if I can remember what it's called.
