Exchange Upgrade

Hey Guys,

I received an automated call from Telkom yesterday afternoon informing me that my exchange is part of the network upgrade and there will be some downtime this coming weekend.

I looked it up on the notice board and this came up:

Any idea if this means I will now be able to get 20/40mbps?

Yes, but it will depend on your distance from the Gateway MSAN units.

How can I find out where about the gateway exchange is? I'm literally 1 small street across from the mall...

Remember that the MSAN unit might be on a street corner and not necessarily in the old exchange building.

Im just hoping this weather holds up. For the 1st time i'm actually praying for some internet downtime!

There are 3 exchanges in the gateway area one next to east coast radio house one in gateway and one meridian that is long cut over next to the Telkom tower.

Ok so whichever one i'm connected to, its getting upgraded. I just spoke to technical support now and he says they could be busy with the fibre installation from the exchange to the MSAN, which will mean 40mbps! I have seen them doing a lot of fibre installations in my area for quite a while now

More than likely the one next to east coast radio house because AFIAK the exchange in gateway only feeds gateway mall.
