My local exchange was upgraded to VDSL a week ago.

I phoned Telkom and tried to upgrade but their system has not been updated yet? How long will I have to wait?

Sent TelkomSA PM but he seems to be to busy to reply.

Hi Voodoo

I sent you the PM, did you check your DP Board on the Openserve link I sent you. In other words the box on the pole nearest to where you reside or work. You can check the number of the DP Board physically on the pole and compare it to the Openserve portal.
Our exchange got an DSL upgrade in April this year, what hardware/software or more importantly which DP Boards were upgraded is a guessing game. I say this because an area less than 5km from our exchange comprising 7 streets x 7 streets and further away than myself as I live next to the exchange is already 40000kbps and VDSL as we know, whereas our DP Board on the portal shows only 20000kbps which is ADSL2+.

How the upgrades are done is a guessing game, it doesn't mean a whole Suburb (Plumstead/Wynberg/Ottery/Timbuktu) as example gets an upgrade, it seems to be more DP Board related and will comprise several streets or blocks within a Suburb.

I chatted once with Telkom's Technical people and they said Sales needed to change my profile to get VDSL as it is currently Multimode or ADSL and when I talk to Sales there are no other options on their system, so we are definitely not VDSL but actually still ADSL2PLUS, the Sales are saying so and the DP Board is confirming and it appears only a section of our Suburb is 40Mb VDSL so far.
