Where can I buy exhaust parts (Bosal) wholesale to fit myself?

Well... I dont think anyone in ZA besides agents and Acraprovic sells bolt together systems. Parts Incorporated Africa are Bosal agents in the Eastern Cape. You wont get away without welding work.

What parts do you intend to buy?

You get exhaust parts with flanges and also without(without is cheaper and needs to be welded)

Why do you want bosal specifically? The do carry the largest off the shelf stock.

Do cars made this century ever need exhaust repairs?

You mean since 2000.

Well the properties of the materials has not changed. The breakdown of the materials (due to combustion by product reactions) has not changed.

Early Cats are more easily damaged.

Most OEM exhaust are not made from corrosion resistant stainless steel. Those that are, use the cheaper alloy.

So in short YES.

Yes, since 2000. I remember the early '90s Carravelle my parents had as a kid needing the occasional exhaust repairs and the cars before that. But nothing since. Polos, Corsas, an A-class, C-classes, a Ford, a Fiat and a UTE in my immediate family since 2000 never needed any exhaust repairs and most reached close to or above 200k km.

I had put it down to the engine parameters being more tightly controlled and maybe better design and manufacture of the exhaust systems.

How many KMs do they actually last these days?

That is because those cars do not outlast the exhaust systems. My 1985 e30 recieved its first new exhaust components 4 months ago. Thats 29 years without repair. Also a high mileage car usually travels longer distances. It is the warming and cooling of short distances that speeds up deterioration.
