Hi Peeps,

I'm kinda putting my feelers out there to find people that are experienced system builders, specifically peeps that have a lot of experience with liquid cooled systems. I'm sourcing parts for an Editing / 3D Animation system - This system will be under load almost 90% of the time it's switched on and it has to be able to withstand some overclocking. It needs to be stable and happy.

I'd like to know if ya'll could point me to either individuals and/or a company in South Africa that creates quality liquid cooled systems. I've always enjoyed building my own system [it's something I've always enjoyed doing over the course of 15 years and 7 iterations of upgrades and system builds] But, I think I might in over my head with this one.

I was looking at the systems built over at Digital Storm: Custom Gaming Computers & Gaming PCs - This is exactly the kind of quality that I'm looking for. I don't mind paying the premium to get a quality system built like this. I want the whole deal, CPU and GPU blocks, Hardline/Rigid tubing, custom PSU cable sleeving and stress testing.

If the referrals are in the Western Cape that would be an added bonus.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

D

I've never seen a local do a chrome or acrylic custom loop that looked professionally done. And Digital Storm have some nifty tricks that are unlikely to be in a local builder's arsenal, like thermal shields, custom water blocks, professional case painting, remote control LED lighting, a case that supports a staggering 560+420+280mm radiators altogether etc.

If you've got that kind of money to spend, get your system directly from Digital Storm, Origin PC, Maingear etc.

Hey Bryn, shot for reply.

Look, I'm don't want to copy their exact set up pound for pound - I'm just extremely impressed by the amount of care they put into their builds - So I'm kind of looking for someone/company that has the same work ethic.

I'd like to order the parts from Koolance or ekwb - They seem to have some of the best gear when it comes to liquid cooling. I would love if Digital Storm or Main Gear actually sold their chassis separately [Origin's chassis are kinda naff for me]

My picks are between Fractal Design and NZXT - so getting the cases shouldn't be a huge hassle (maybe the NZXT)
Here's an awesome build using Fractal Design - Paul's Hardware Arctic Panther - This kinda what what I'm aiming for.

I'd just like to get someone with experience to assemble it for me, and I'm sure I'll save a couple of thousand bucks by doing it this way rather than importing from overseas,

Cheers

Your best bet would be to create a thread like this one over on Carbonite.co.za, if you haven't already. You're more likely to find such a skilled local individual there.

I know that Origin sell their chassis separately if you email them - you could try emailing Digital Storm too. I wouldn't bother with Maingear, as they seem to use readily available third party chassis' and just add their branding. They're very fond of the Corsair 900D and InWin 909. Importing a case will be damn expensive due to the dimensional weight.

You will save quite a bit by sticking to local stores. Make sure you've checked out Rebel Tech, Wootware and Titan Ice before ordering parts from overseas. Performance-PC is a popular store that locals use to import liquid cooling gear, and the EK shop is well regarded too.

Is there a particular reason you want hardline tubing? You would save a lot of money with normal tubing. And the risk of having issues with your system if it's put together by an amateur would be much lower.

But yeah, definitely take this discussion over to Carbonite.

I've had a lot of experience with various liquid cooling systems, admittedly some years ago. Were I looking at this again today I'd take a serious look at Koolance. Their stuff is well engineered and reliable.
