Experiment - Achievements for your Android phone

Quite a rad concept. I think you could improve the UI a bit. Perhaps cool icons for the achievements? Do you know of any good reading I could do on getting started with developing Android apps?

I am insulted ;) Yeah, I reckoned if it actually gets used I'd find somebody who can help me with proper graphics :D Photoshop is not my strong point :P

The official Android Tutorials is where I started. If you can already program it is the best place to start. At least that is what I think

No offence, but gay. If I wanted a consoletard phone, I would have bought an Apple. Or an Xbawx

I like the idea, could really take off if done properly. You could even use it to help people get the most out of their phones.

Will this help 'droid newbies to get to know their devices better?

Like a more intimate tĂŞte-Ă -tĂŞte? :p

Great concept but needs more.

More design, more achievements and more sharing.

To truly make it worth something you need to be able to compete with friends and that means sharing. Either by a central database where you can compare yours with friends you added or via updates to a social platform.

I totally agreed... I was working on a webservice, but I am but one lonely programmer with a day job :D So I reckoned I'll add it later :P I will be pushing some updates in the next week or o to at least add a share menu option... Like the usual share you see all around Android

I have 3 achievements but I dont know why?

Is there a question mark next to it? Because then you don't have it. When you earn an achievement a notification will appear and the list will be updated to show why you got an acievement

PS: If anybody wants to help program...

You planning on making money with it at all?

If not and just use it as a learning curve, why not Open Source it? If you think that is an option up it to git at Google and post on XDA.

I must admit I will feel much better about something like this if it was open source esp in regards to permissions, then you can add things like Security nut ach for installing security software and so on.

Having a South African account I will not make any money off this :D The only reason I have adMob enabled is to get some sort of usage stats. Thanks to admob I know the previous app I wrote is being used even though it has a VERY small user base.

Open Sourcing is not something I am considering at the moment... The problem with Open Sourcing something like this is that it makes cheating very easy :) Not that it is to difficult now, but at least it will take some head scratching ;)

Understand, and by making money with it, I was referring to ads as we do get paid for ad based revenue.

Nah.. If I was making R1Mil, then I'd leave it in, but for the money you get I'd rather take it out and give a better user experience... that been said, I won't take it it out unless I see a big user base.

And after an hour in meetings I am thinking that open sourcing would actually be pretty cool. I'll drop a post on XDA later and see how it goes :)

This actually looks pretty cool :) I love it when SAfricans get involved with stuff.

I can't help with dev much but anything PHP/MySQL you need or if you want hosting and all that malarky, I'd be glad to provide it (free of course).

Thanks :) If I do carry on supporting this app I think I will need some help :)
