Expire date

To some people this is bit tricky including me. I will use yoghurt as an example, if the expire date is written 2018/01 just month and a year.

Does it mean the product will expire first of January 2018 or last day of January 2018.

Neither.

It means it expires on the last day of December 2017.
or
The first day of February 2018.
