So I just stumbled upon this youtube video today... Apparently this phenomenon is exclusive to Samsung phones specifically despite loads of other devices being stored in the same conditions. It seems like Arun may be overly dramatic in this case, but it's probably worth watching anyway. :)

The key takeaway is if you not using your old phone, it's better to toss them out until lithium ion gets replaced with graphite. Agree Arun is being dramatic, but his sponsored by Xiaomi, and Samsung Uk messed up by taking his phone and ghosting him. They should have known better. The problem is not exclusive to Samsung, but they don't have a good history with this kind of thing. Here's Max saying it happened with his pixel

Seems to be an issue with devices released up to 2020, so if you have any laying around, its wise to sell it, or keep the battery charged to 50 %
