Is it possible to connect your explora to wi-fi and whats the benifit of it ?

All the DSTV connector is is a R320 wifi extender with DHCP. For R240 you can get a Totolink 300Mbps Wireless N Router that will do the job and more. Or if you are close enough to your router then cable it. Cable is about R3/m and conntectors about R4 each. So a 30m cable will cost about R120 to make up.

Makro has it for R399. https://www.makro.co.za/electronics-and-gaming/dstv-wi-fi-connector-286166EA
I'd rather get: http://www.wootware.co.za/asus-rt-1...r-router.html#product_tabs_description_tabbed if you have bad wireless and set it up next to the decoder, just use a LAN cable.

Of course it depends on your situation.

Cabling it seems like the least expensive route (dependent of course of your router)?

Just for info for me, I assume that cabling it is doable and that the explora will automatically then pick up the additional content?

When connected, does it automatically download or download only that which you select to download?

Download what is selected. You get an SD & HD option. You can also schedule the downloads to happen between selected hours

Hi Dairyfarmer, please advise where on can get cabling at approx R3/meter. I think you'd have to buy huge quantities to get it at that price diminishing any cost saving.
