Hi All,

I heard that the Explora will be enabled to view 3 different channels on 3 tvs from November 2015. Is this true?

Or will it be possible perhaps to link up 3 Exploras under one subscription and view different channels on 3 tvs?

I doubt it, but would love that to be the case, we still use our old SD PVR in conjunction with the thin HD PVR so we still get the 3 channels

Believe me - The SD PVR will suddenly give you inexplicable issues going forward since it's being phased out. I have a SD PVR with an Explora combo so I can view 3 different channels currently. But the SD PVR periodically "cannot communicate" with the Explora. Yet there is nothing wrong with either decoder. Normally this will happen during prime viewing hours :) How convenient :p

+1

Monochoice loves "updating" their old hardware :p

We also have an Explora linked to an SD PVR. Every now and then the SD PVR will give inexplicable issues for days on end, but then work just fine again.

Was looking earlier at some wiring sketch for Explora and one could connect an HD PVR and another plain HD Decoder, with (separate Dish single LNB) using the Smart LNB with heartbeat to the other decoders. No reason to think that you could not use 2 Explora's and a HD PVR or even 3 Explora's. Might be wrong about the latter but I did see 3 decoders linked for Extraview.

One can link many decoders to a single dish with enough multiswitches, but the issue of extraview comes with linking the decoders heartbeats together, and most importantly DSTV needs to enable 3 smart cards on their systems under 1 extraview sub, which is probably not that high on their list of things to do

You won't be able to connect 3 environments to 1 explorer.

If and when multichoice allows 3 viewing environments on the modern decoders, you would need to have 3 decoders and link them together via heartbeat.

Yep, can also attest to this. Especially during vital moments in a sporting event!!

Came across this thread ... anybody know if this will become a reality?

I haven't looked at this option in a while, but last time I tried to connect three decoders, technically you can with a heartbeat cable to all three. The third connection however will cost you a full DSTV subscription. Why i decided against it as I only wanted to have cartoon network in my sons room, I was not prepared to pay a full subscription. I have three physical decoders.

Finally DSTV decided to let the cat out of the bag. Now you can have 3 decoders, 3 views, 1 subscription :)
