Explosion on Moon today?

Too bad it's cloudy over here so I can't even attempt to checking it out. The Moon will be pretty low for any observations from SA.

If I recall correctly this is an intentional impact for scientific reasons. They want to see what minerals etc. is exposed afterwards so it's not a case of dumping space junk on the moon.

Expect shards of cheese. :D

Most people couldn't see anything. The AAO in Australia did manage to catch something although I haven't taken a look at the pics. Will do so tonight.

Mmmmm..... It's just a suggestion, please don't shout at me or rave or whatever but I was just um um just thinking that per perhaps they can or could um DRILL?!

The events in Armageddon were entirely fictional. Damn you Michael Bay, damn you!

I'm sure once they send a manned mission again they will definitely drill to their hearts content. Sending a robotic mission for that purpose would be a bit expensive. In any case the impact was a secondary objective the primary objective was to map the Moon in HD.
