What's the best format to use?

I'll probably start using Windows Live Mail ...

What's the best format?
I think PST is old now?

EDIT : Seems they only give me PST option?!

Here's the full story.

My mom had Vista and Outlook - and wanted Windows 7. She went to Incredible Connection to do the job and the guy backed up her mail in PST format, reinstalled Windows but couldn't get the mail back because he said it was corrupt.

She brought the PST file home and asked to see what I can do. I run Windows Live Mail and noticed it cannot import the PST - so I got myself a copy of Outlook 2013 and it imports it just fine.

Now I'd like export it again from Outlook 2013 into something that Windows Live Mail can read (Or I'll just give her 2013 ... seems the easiest solution as I'm typing this ....)

Incredible Corruption being knobs again, I see...

Install Mozilla Thunderbird. It allows you to export the PST to the .eml files used by Windows Mail...

But- installing Outlook 2013 certainly seems the easiest option...

EDIT: On Thunderbird- you would need to also install the ImportExportTools plugin.

hehe - I think I'll do Outlook 2013 ;)

Thanks they!

PS They charged her R800.00 or something - excluding software. That was only the time! She'd also need to pay them per hour to find which mail was 'corrupt' .... hmmm

R800? :wtf:

I did this for one of the execs at work, it took me five minutes to do... Bunch of b@stards...

How big is the PST file?

Gees, R800 for installing Windows 7? She could have popped in the disc and run the upgrade herself!
