Hi peeps

1) I have read the articles about pursuing a marketing campaign against Telkom.
2) I have just read the feedback from Telkom about "being customer centric" which RPM is pursuing, which Telkom was very aggressive about btw.

Now you know what I am bloody tired of TALK!!. Everyone talks... DOC, GV, Telkom, MYADSL... Bloody everyone. BUT NOBODY IS ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHIN!!!!!!!!!!

Heres my suggestion. I truly believe that we need to take this fight to the next level. And in order to that we need:
1) Skilled individuals
2) Money $$$
3) A Plan
4) The Facts (THERE ENOUGH FACTS OUT THERE)

1,3,4 WE HAVE.
2 = Money which we dont have.

Now I know that alot of ppl out there are either against funding a site like MyADSL for their own personal reasons. But like all activist groups we need to pull together for 1 common goal. And thats to expose Telkom.

Heres a little calculation of the kind of money we can generate if we all agree to the following:

Myadsl has 6000+ users.
if each user contributes R10
= R60 000

contribute R50
= R300 000

contribute R100
= R600 000

Now ask yourself this. We all pay more then R500 a month for our adsl products. What is an extra R10, R50, R100, Rx a month to fund an advertising campaing against Telkom..????

Its high time we do something. Otherwise nothing is going to happen!!!!!!!!

I have said it before, I would contribute without thinking twice. I hate telkom more than the jews hated hitler..
 
Agree 100%, and am in for R200! (To help cover the cost of one of the students! :D) Send a PM to LoneGunman... he started something already, but I'm not sure how far the process is!
 
Yeah i was reading that LoneGunman article last night. And i read the response from telkom this morning. I AM FAAARKKIINGG GATVOL with Telkom.....

Seriously.... we are banging out heads against TITANIUM walls when trying to bring about change through TALK!!!

Its simple.... If we dont take the fight to the next level... nothing is going to happen.... The longer things stay the same... the further we fall behind the rest of the world.... and this will have a bad knock on effect in every area of BASIC SOUTH AFRICAN LIVES, LIVING, ECONOMY, ETC!!!!!!

So for those of you who really want things to change.... Then stand up, contribute, and lets start a revolution!!!!!!

If Firefox could run an ad in the New York Times then surely we could get together enough for a couple of ads in the Sunday Times.

The ad needs to ask hard questions not just whine about how crap Telkom is, that would be a waste of everyone's money.

If we do not know what the realistic outcome we are looking for is then we may as well not start.

Please tell where to start depositing our moneys, on the 1st of each mnt im sure most of us will deposit some cash, can we get bank details soon, an a trust formed or created, and maybe an auditor?
 
I would be in if you can Guarantee that the contributors won't get sued to hell and back
 
I will defnitly be in for R 200, however I would like to see the officialy plan and have RPM have some kind of official stance over this, so that it has an official myadsl stamp on it.

I want this type of campaign to hit Telkom as hard as humanly possible..
 
I agree with all of you.

We need all the key players here on MyADSL for official stamp, agreenment, etc...

Then we need to put together a solid "publicly viewable plan" as to advertising that will be carried out.

Then we need to put in mechanisms for gathering the money.
Bank Account.
whether it will accept credit card or not..
pay pal..
anything....

I think if there is something we all can agree on, and that is that this by no means a fraudulent thing. All of us have come here for the same reason. To bring about better telecoms. And I am positive that guys like RPM will do his utmost to make sure that the money gathered is put to the best possible use!!!
 
Yes! And remember we must form small cells, working independant from each other, so they can't bring us all down in one go :D

I'm in for R100 ...
 
RPM... I am sure you reading this.... Just by calculation already.... This post has generated just over R1000.

If you "market" the idea of contributing to a fund against Telkom.... and then use that money to tackle Telkom.... I am conivnced that we will achieve better results in 1 semi-large advertising campaign then we have to date on MyADSl.co.za forums.

I have dropped LG a PM with some suggestions, he will no doubt reply in due course. Points to consider are the following. RPM does want us to act in any way as MYADSL, he has his reasons and they are most likely valid. This in reality means forming a new activist group or alternatively enter into discussions with folk like Antitrust who are already out there doing something. In my PM to LG I stated that I can administer the fund i.t.o Sec 78 (Attorneys Trust Account). What I cannot do is take a leadership role as my time is limited due to work. Alocos has already stated that he is willing to help with legal advice and oversight. I have noticed more than a few media people posting here, I am sure they will come to the table with their skills as well.

Yeah, I think this must be well coordinated, and done via legal means with a trust formed and with certain goals im mind. This is a action as the broadband community and not as MyADSL. We should not drag the MyADSL as company involved with this. It must be sepperate for various reasons. But it should be clear and known to everyone that once this drive starts there will be no stopping. Telkom must know they will have apart from MyADSL, Helkom and Antitrust a new drive, against this blatant exploitation by monopolies of SA citizens, is on the cards. Lets call it the ""Broadband Tsunami"" or just "Anti Exploitation Tsunami"
