Hi all,
Please bear with me while I be telling for you a question. TL;DR below
I did a A+ certificate way back in 1997 and the networking portion of that course was Netware 4.1. What I'm trying to say is the little knowledge I have these days is dangerous!
So, I have a shiny new Asus RT-AC68U router. It's connected to a fiber line with Vuma with Telkom as the ISP.
Enter Expressvpn.
So, I currently use the Evpn app on most of my devices. Since my old cheapy router was playing the fool with me I decided to go with the Asus so I could run Evpn straight from the router.
I had no beer last night to keep me entertained so I decided tonight was the night. Filled with the knowledge of Youtube, I pulled out my trusty Huawei Matebook, downloaded the firmware from Evpn. I entered the router's brain and shined the torch at it.
The minute my router rebooted my laptop disconnected from the internet. I checked my phone and it was connected but I got the pop-up from Evpn to setup the router. I did this.
So, the two android phones and my PS4 connected to the internet with no problems, browsing the internet also not a problem. I fired up the work laptop, also Win 10, and sure as can be, she connected to the Wi-Fi but NO internet, just like my laptop.
I started playing around with some options. Changing VPN location, disconnecting the VPN altogether. Rebooting various times. Nothing. At this point I really wished I had some beer and the perspiration became. I then explored options one of two, I contacted Evpn. Went through all the steps Erickson advised with no luck, pretty much exactly what I did, until he advised me to... download log files onto my laptop and email them to him... I did ask him how I was supposed to do that if my laptop wouldn't connect to the internet, I didn't get an answer.
Option two took me the better half of two hours but I eventually just reverted to the original firmware by uploading it to Evpnrouter.com via my cellphone.
Did anyone had a similar problem and how was this resolved? Pretty please! I assume this was a Windows 10 thing since all my other devices connected fine.
TL;DR version -
With Epressvpn firmware on my router, phones connect as well as PS4, internet connection is no problem, My laptops running Win 10 connect to the Wi-Fi but do not connect to the internet. Any tips or tricks to get this working?
