Im running a trial on express vpn with my R699 rain 5g.

With out tbe vpn i get 30mbs but with the vpn on i am getting between 2 and 3mbs on speedtest.net.

I read that expressVPN is one of the fastest but doesn't seem so with my speeds. Is there anything else i could test.

I have tested the vpn to different server locations including SA but all the same speed of 2-4mbs

That's quite odd.

I've used them for over a year now and just renewed for another year. Speed tests have always been within about 10-15% of my clean line speed.

I do think it has a LOT to do with server location. If you're unsatisfied, give NordVPN a go - they're apparently the closest in terms of speed and quality.

By that do you mean if you get 100mbs download speed with out vpn you will get 10mbs with vpn as that's 10 percent?

What protocol are you using? Wireguard and IKEV2 are the best followed by openvpn.

I see they don't support Wireguard yet. Rather move to a provider that does like Windscribe or Mullvad. Wireguard is brilliant. I've been connected for 24 hours now and that's with moving to and fro from Wifi to 4g etc.

Ive heard Mullvad is very good, but i dont think they offer SA servers do they?

I have attached the screenshot of before i connect the VPN and with the VPN Connected. I connected to the South African VPN server of ExpressVPN to test. Still only 3mbs using rain 5g standard. If i dont come right i will upgrade to the 5g premium but not sure if the vpn will go above 20mbs.
