Hi guys,

Have a Nov 2006 BMW320d, have only just broken 60k kms (with 60k service done in May) and the motorplan is expiring in Nov.

Have looked after the car very well, do minimal milage, regularly serviced, mint condition.

BMW have quoted me R3850.00 for extension of mororplan by a year. Next service is in 8k kms so i should reach that within the year.

Just wanted some opinions if its worth it.

Have not paid cash for a servce for some time so don't even know how much they are, that's obviously excluding some more severe type failure.

Do these vehicles have a habit of failing around about at this time ?

Would appreciate some comments.

60k kms for 5 years! gosh, I did that in 2 years.

Not sure about BMW, but I know R4000 is not allot to extend for a year.

Worthwhile to extend if you planning on selling the vehicle anytime soon. Quoted priced is not bad. I'd extend if I were you. Your next service would cost between R1500 and R2500 so the balance covers any unforeseen failures. Worth it IMO.

My m/plan on my 2006 323i M Sport also expires in November (Mileage 94k). Quote to extend is around R17000 for 15000km and 1 year, so I will not be extending :(

BMW's Motorplan is awesome.

Also check your car to see if anything seems like it might need to be fixed no matter how minor. Try to get it fixed immediately under motorplan. Generally the E90's are quite reliable.

Just get it. Once it expires you can never get motorplan again on that vehicle. If you sell it, the buyer will definitely want motorplan cos that his guarantee that the car was looked after and is in good condition. Without motorplan, anything could've been done to the car.
If the turbo goes, you looking at around R8000 or more so rather get it.
PS, very good mileage :)

Extend it, no question. You cant just look at the service cost, its like insurance on the whole car.

extend it
go now

the longer you wait to extend the more expensive it becomes
iirc to extend with time only for 1 year was 5k in Jan 2010 - I waited till june and got another quote and the option to extend with time only was no longer available
and the cheapest extension would cost 12k, 1yr and 10km - i ended up not extending.

my last service in motorplan got them to replace a host of stuff
shocks, pads and discs, clutch etc total came to about 20k for that service, so its definitely worth it.

Thx all, just extended it with them based on group feedback.

I'm second owner, used to belong to a senior person, i bought the car in 2009 (2006 model) with 25k kms, hows taht :)

Made sure i'm close to work and rarely travel far so i keep the car at optimum.

Appreciated

Typical Break Pads - R7000

Oil seal with Service - R9500

So for R3850 it is a bargain
