Extended Warranty or Service Plan

Hi MYBB Users,

Please may I have your thoughts on the below?

I own a Toyota Corrolla 2009 (bought new) model, the 5 year / 60 000 service plan will soon be coming to an end in June. The vehicle is only on about 56000Kms and in good condition.

Would you recommend I take out the extended warranty or get an extended service plan. My average KMs in a months are around 800, therefore a “low mileage user”. I was recommended not to take the service plan but to rather take the extended warranty with Toyota.

Should I take the extended warranty and service plan?
Not sure if there are any other reliable places I can try to beat the extended warranty they quoted?
What do you recommend?

What's your current warranty? Extended the warranty is cheap, so I would always recommend extending it to the maximum term upon buying a vehicle...

Speaking under correction I think the service plan and warranty expire middle of next month

Personally I would take the extended warranty with Toyota, I take it the service plan would be with a 3rd party? I prefer to keep it all with the same people. Looks better when you sell the vehicle, but that's just my humble opinion.

Remember that the Warranty is 3 years and Service plan is 5 years.

You can speak to ToyotaCare and extend the factory warranty for another 2 years.

Are there any other places that maybe can beat the extedned warranty prices quoited from Toyota. I have heard of Motorite...anywhere else I can try?

What's the point of an extended service plan? You are just paying up front for future services. Is there any definite discount involved? Rather get the warranty, as that actually protects you for things a service plan doesn't cover at all. An annual service should cost a few grand and you can save up each year for this. Rather keep this money for yourself and invest it.

^^^ Sound advice - if it was me, I would simply pay for the services every year, and forget any plans. These cars are not expensive to maintain - if it was something like a Merc or BMW, different story.

Don't take that from motorite, rather get the company branded one if it is an inhouse product.
