giving you unlimited cover on your major mechanical components for two years up to 200 000kms for R165 pm

From what I've experienced you're always going to have trouble with these warrentees but the one shown above is very much the same as most others out there. I would get it for just in case, but know that you're probably going to have to put up a fight with these guys should you have to claim something. It's as if they try to see if the can get away with declining claims.

From what I know, the main sticking point with these aftermarket warranties is usually which workshops they cover. Sometimes you can struggle to find a workshop close to you, or you end up discovering that it's the worst workshop in the area.

Choose a warranty by the workshop chain which it supports, and go in and speak to the workshop manager about his experiences dealing with people using that warranty. You'll find they'll probably tell you a lot of interesting stories.

You will note that all things which are definitely going to give problems are excluded, clutch, radiator and cooling hoses which perishes with time, rubber boots, aircon regass.

Part 5,6,7 and 9 on the 'components covered' list are covered in full but are unfortunately not applicable to a Polo, so almost all the components and systems that are bound to fail have exclusions.

You can take the warranty but be prepared to pay extra out of your own pocket because the chances are 99% that whatever will break in future wont be fully covered by the warranty.

Point number 17 of the Exclusions is where they ALWAYS try catch you. Have heard a few stories from people with non-OEM warranties that if something that IS covered goes...
The workshop will nearly always invariably link its failure to a non-covered part... And hence repudiate. Its almost as if the garages they authorize to cover warranties are colluding with them to deny claims.

i didnt see they don't cover clutch repairs and yeah the hoses are generally what causes issues

her car is still new so i doubt hoses and stuff will go

Exactly, for an example they cover the steering rack system but the don't cover the rubber boots, as soon as the rubber boots fail the steering rack is sure to follow the same as CV joints etc.

Her car is still new, I would take my chances with fate because the chances are that you are going to end up paying anyway if something was to go wrong.

All those components which are covered are very unlikely to fail or be damaged in some way, it can happen but its highly unlikely that's why they are fully covered.

This is true.
Extended warranty is money down the drain.

I opted for the Mastercar warranty on my Golf. Had the cylinder head replaced in May under the manufacturer warranty. R100k and I didnt pay a cent. Two weeks later and out of OEM warranty the water pump went. Really pi££ed off. Anyhow, the mastercar warranty I sold as "An extension of the manufacturer warranty and covers everything the manufacturer does". Well I ended up having to pay in because of a few exclusions. The warranty basically just covered the part that broke and labour. I had to pay for the belts, covers and coolant that would naturally be replaced when bolting everything back so I'm not happy right now as I had the car back for a week and it's an unexpected expense and all if that (angry rant).

Lesson to be learnt here is that an aftermarket warranty can save you some money but chances are you'll be paying in a chunk yourself due to exclusions.

Please get a legal person to read contract don't take for granted, they catch you with wording and you can lose out.

I've heard good that motorite and hollard are good. Anyone use them?

Also if I take a warranty will it automatically expire when car gets to 200 000km or if I continue to pay will it go on?
