I'm trying to extend my SD decoder's cable another 2m.

1) Got cable, connectors (similar to http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/extend_cable.htm from Ellies)

Decoder won't pick up the signal with even an extra 2m!?

Any suggestions on what to check? I've made sure the copper extends sufficiently into all connections...

???

there must be a problem with your connections, i.e braiding touching center core etc

I'll double-check that, pretty sure i did a neater job than whoever did the original cable tho :/..

problem must be there, nothing else has changed the otherside, what i do when i do them is pull the braiding back over the cable itself then screw the f-type connectors on to ensure i do not have any touching

That's the correct way.

Your setup?
Dish(LNB) - Single Cable - SD Decoder?

No other connections?

Which decoder?

Did the act of dislodging the original (you implied untidy) not mess up its connections? If you are sure yours are sweet, maybe just check the original piece...

Huzzah! The original connector/cable that they installed had some braiding slightly touching. Fixed, Switched off decoder, plugged in extension, switched decoder on, channel still on, no searching or anything.. No signal loss either.. 100% quality etc..

THANKS! :)

sweet glad you came right

probably in you playing with the cable to attach the other side made it move that mm that it needed to make contact

Excellent! In the past, I have learnt this the hard way too: that the chances are better that the person before you made the mess, not you.
