Extending Wireless range

Hi

I have a netgear DG834g router. Most of my house is covered but I wish to extend the wireless range to the whole house, especially my patio where I cannot currently get a reception. Other than moving the router, are they any gadgets, thingies I can buy to extend the range. I wasted some money on an arial that I bought that you mount on the ceiling but it did no good.

Any advice links greatly appreciated.

You could always add another wireless access point (AP) to your house and use that to boost the signal. You put it somewhere between the existing AP and where you want the signal to reach.
 
DG834G's are shipped with 2dBi antennas.

Not sure what the ceiling mounted antenna you got was but adding a 5dBi like this one should increase range a fair bit:

Chances are though that your poor coverage is because of thick walls (or just too many walls) between the router and the patio. A pretty effective way of dealing with this would be to use Powerline networking, and this is just the thing to use:
