I am using a B683 or a K4605. I get mostly decent speeds using these devices. However there are occasions that speeds drop considerably.

Would I be likely to get a more consistent connection, using an external antenna?

Using mostly 8ta, Vodacom or Cell-C for data.

Hi There,
If you are generally getting decent speeds then an antenna is not really going to help. If the speed is dropping but the connection not then it is most likely a congested tower. Have you noticed a time of day when it is particularly bad. e.g. 6pm at night?

Hi There,
Connection dropping in the rain or even in summer when there are leaves on the trees is a problem. An external antenna may assist in improving the connectivity in the rain but I would try and borrow one first to see if the connectivity improves.
An antenna is not going to help with a congested tower though.

Regards

Tim
