Hi the antenna best for increasing your reception would be an Xpol 06 or a LTE directional high gain MIMO antenna .... check the Otto Wireless website. And if you can speak to the technical guys there and explain to them what your expectations are they will advise you on the best antenna based on your requirement and expectation.

Hi all,

will this antenna (And cable) work for Rain (Or LTE for that matter)

https://scoop.co.za/3g-4g-6dbi-desktop-antenna-with-sma-male.html

and next question, does the signal for the 4G come through the standard antenna on the router or the router itself (May seem like an illogical question however im new to this whole 4G hardware field).

Some routers Like the Huawei B series, you can set the router to use both internal and External Antenna, or you can set to use only External Antenna or Only internal Antenna, This is Configured in the Menu. In regards to the antenna type, Any external antenna will add some improvement to the signal, provided that the antenna you are using is designed to operate within the frequency you require. LTE is set to operate in the 1700Mhz - 1900Mhz band. The antenna above that you quoted according to the details under information will operate within that band. Its performance and abilities to operate at different frequency makes one antenna distinguishable from another antenna. Usually you can see this performance specifications in the data sheet from the antenna manufacturer.

take a look at https://poynting.tech/product/xpol-2/ - Excellent Antenna performance characteristic. I would say the best in the market, Not cheap at all. but worth every cent. I have used many in the field and would not change it for anything else. I like this one as it Covers the UMTS/3G band as well, So if your device has to fall over from LTE (1700Mhz-1900Mhz) down to 3G/UMTS (900Mhz/2100Mhz) at least you still get good data speeds. So keep that in mind when choosing the antenna.

Hope this helps

so,

for a mere R1 i took a piece of tinfoil (Yes it cost about R1 in terms of how much i actually used out of the roll, even if it came to that i doubt it) and i put it behind my antenna and increased the signal as follows,

Before:
-59 RSSI & -86 RSRP

After
-51 RSSI & -78 RSRP.
