Hi Guys, I had a external casing into which you just mounted a normal internal HDD.

This has been working great, problem now is it doesn't work no more and I want to replace teh external casing. I prefer using this above the smaller slim line external HDD's since I can store the full drives instead of wiping it the whole time.

I know it's more bulkier but I prefer these. My question is... Do they still make them? Can't find any :(

I bought one the other day from esquire and saw them at matrix

I'll go look at Esquire. Thanks mate. Been to Makro and all the closest PC dealers I can find but they all stock these new slim line enclosed externals...

What are you actually asking here?
Just go buy an external casing if that's your wish.

I didn't realize they were difficult to find.
Are you looking for the entire enclosure or just the connection to be able to transfer?

Sorry for all the questions but how does this tie into your statement about wiping the entire drive everytime?

Think his issue is with sealed externals from the shops, not everybody stocks standalone chassis anymore - but they are findable

I have lots and lots of series that I store on drives. The problem with having the slim line ones would be that I need to copy to the drive, copy it again to an internal drive and then wipe the slim line external to transfer more data again. Where with the enclosures once the drive is full, I just take it out and put in a new one. Buying 3.5" Hdds are more cost effective than having to buy the sealed slim line ones. Hope it makes sense.

Ah okay.
2.5 vs 3.5 then.

I have bought 3.5 external enclosures(SATA) this week.
Their price seems to have gone up a bit.
The prices varied between R280.00 and R300.00.
This is in the Port Elizabeth area.

have you looked at a hard drive docking station? just plug your hard drives in like a cartridge and go for it. No need to even swap cases.
You could also try ebay if you don't mind waiting for delivery. Chinese suppliers usually offer free shipping, or really cheap shipping.
