If you have an edgars account, just go to cna and get the mecer bravo 750gig. I wouldn't say it's particularly cheap, but it is really solidly built. Doesn't feel cheap and looks like it'll last quite a few rough and tumble occasions. It's R1300 and supports esata and usb 2.0.

Definitely worth it.
