hi guys popped into incredible connection today and saw they had a packard bell store and play 2500 - 120gb harddrive which is powered by the usb connection no ac required if used with laptop or desk top also has a feature to plug to tv which has a plug for ac to power it and u can watch all movies stored direct from the harddrive also has a remote - price : R1999.99

was it a good buy? i already purchased it tho :D

I find that overpriced for R1999.You could have gone to Café Viva if you in the CT area and got a 2.5" Mediaplayer HDD casing @ R299 and a 2.5" 120GB HDD@ R899. Link for casing: http://www.isonic.co.za/

dont those little ones only support fat32?

i opted for the big 3.5" enclosure after finding out that it has to use fat32 formatted drives...
 
hmmnn very overpriced , i saw one which had all the bell & whistles , remote etc at Matrix for R499-00 just needed a HDD.

yeah i thought so but hey i already bought it and it seems to work pretty well so far hope it stays that way for a long time for that price :D

Erm no ... "Those little ones" are notebook drives ... I have one running FAT32, one running NTFS and one running HFS+ without problems. In fact, the one with NTFS on is a drive from my old HP notebook
 
Depends on playback. If there is no jitter on DivX like with some cheaper options then you got a good deal. Play around with the DivX a bit and let us know...
 
It's not overpriced, remember you don't need a external power supply (very convenient) for that portable hhd.
