Got this hard drive from overseas http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004445JK4/ref=nosim/?tag=hotukdeals-21 for R 1000, the same product retails in SA for R1600

Specs are Western digital 2.5" 1TB USB 3.0 ready. Now realized they sell 1TB 2.5" samsung HD for R999 in SA . Was it worth getting it the extra "USB 3.0" HD from overseas? Wont USB 2.0 HDs work as fast on USB 3.0 as " USB 3.0" ?

Not if it conks out and you need to send it back for warranty...

No. That's why they are called usb2 and not 3.

NO. USB 2.0 is the slower common denominator. The USB 2.0 controller chip in the HDD housing can only do USB 2.0, nothing more.
