(I think this is the correct section :) )

OK, so I have an external SATA HDD, formatted as exFAT. I want to play media via the USB port on my DVD machine. The HDD is not recognized when its plugged into the DVD. The DVD plays flash disks no problem.

What is going on, is exFAT the wrong option maybe?

Ant tips / advice greatly appreciated.

TIA.

The drive needs to be FAT32, not sure if that's the same as exFat. What make is the DVD

Some el'cheapo DVD - Brand name is GemSound. I've tried it on a Telefunken as well - also not working. The only options my win xp gives to format is NTFS and exFAT. HDD is 160GIG - is it possible to format 160GIG as FAT32. Thanks

those cheaper dvd's have restrictions. i bought a sinotech at pnp hyper but returned it when i couldn't play flash disks > 8gig. hdd are picked up on blue rays dvd's recorders. best is to check in the shop before you buy. new panels also have nifty media players built in
