Hey there,

Im looking for the best possible way to play all my movies that I have on my pc, on the tv. Im thinking of something like this:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=MH720&cat=HDD

I would like something that has a remote control if possible. Support for as many different formats as possible (avi, divx, mpeg, etc...). Support for a 3.5 inch HDD obviously.

Also, what is the quality like on these things when you play your movies on the tv? I see the above link has Video Up-scaling to 720P. Could anyone please explain what that means.

Im hoping to get something for about R1000. (the case + the HDD). So the above link might be a bit expensive but you get the idea. Where in jhb would be a good place to get something like this?

Thanks, much appreciated.

That looks cool but I cant find a price anywhere. But by the looks of it it's probably way more than what im looking to spend.

Ok,...hit me with it,...how much does one of those cost?

I have an Xbox 360 - it works perfectly, plus then you have the option of the console for gaming!

The Arcade goes for R1799.00...plays all the movies I have tried so far - and can also be used as a media centre extender!

I went through a few media players till the Xbox, all would not stream properly - could not set the resolution as I wanted etc etc

The Arcade has a HDMI connector - so buy the cable and a compatible TV, and it plays beautifully!!

hmmm, im looking at two options from mvix, namely the:
- MV2500U (http://www.mvix.co.za/Mvix_MV2500U_Page1.htm) and the
- MV6000R (http://www.mvix.co.za/Mvix_MV6000R_Page1.htm)

The MV6000R is slightly more expensive but not much. The only real difference between the two is that the MV6000R is physically bigger and can also have up to a 1000GB HDD whereas the MV2500U can only have up to a 350GB HDD.

Is that the only real difference?

hmmm, decisions.

ps. Does it just need a normal external HDD? So you would open up the mvix and install it inside?
Thanks.

Chk with Esquire in Midrand I am sure they have stock of the MVix units as they are the distributors of the product , The Esquire Cape Town branch down here has stock cause I bought a MX780HD with a 1TB on Saturday for a client , it's pretty awesome, spend a little more and get yourself one those instead but the MV6000R is also pretty neat if you on a budget
