Well, after some time, my Vantec Nexstar 2.5" HDD isn't working any more. It's completely dead. When connected to the PC, I can't hear the HDD spinning up and the light doesn't even come on.

Any way to fix it?

Also I'm not sure if the enclosure is buggered or whether the actual laptop HDD inside is dead.

help?

Try and get hold of another enclosure you can test it with.

Also look out for certain sounds... e.g. if the HDD is ticking/clicking, then the HDD could be gone.

Try using it inside your pc. You get 2.5" to 3.5" adapters.

The IDE adapters are buggers to get hold of, since they don't manufacture them anymore. I had to import one. Only cost me R200, but that's still a lot for a cheap flimsy adapter.

NCST in Durbs should have them.
