External HDD for Media Center

I want to buy myself an external hard drive. I was thinking of getting a 1TB HDD. The idea is to use it as a media center and store lots of series and movies etc...

I will be connecting it to my laptop, which connects via a high definition cable to a LCD TV. Is there anything in particular that i should look out for when buying this? Im not too sure on the technical stuff...

Any recommendations?

go for a seagate freeagent desk 1tb. Excellent drives.

I managed to get myself a 1TB HDD and Case separate. The PC shop even assembled it. Total price = R1150. Not too shabby.
