Hi

I recently got myself a a TB external hard drive, it is by default in FAT32 and i did a format with swissknife to get it to NTFS due to FAT32 only being able to copy like 4 gigs at a time.

After i did the format my PC shows that there is only 461gB available space and 77.8MB space already used so i did a quick format with the built in windows format utility, but it still shows the same thing.

I dono what to do now, so can any1 tell me how to get my 1TB back?!?!?

(PS. there is no partition, or at least swissknife doesn't show one...)

Thanks

Delete the partition, create a new one and format again.

Use Windows computer management -> disk management

Ok i deleted the partition with disk management, but how do i create new partition?? (its not showing on my computer anymore, but it does show on device manager as 1TB) it still shows on swissknife, but not gonna use that again...

Solution for those who are having trouble with “get 429 GB out of a 1TB External HDD” using :

Two System of Steps:

First Steps: Format it to NTFS using WINDOWS –> the control panel–> Administrative Tools –> Computer Management –> Disk Management –> Format all of it to NTFS (I used Quick format)

Second Steps: Re-Format it to FAT32 using SWISSKNIFE, swissknife will recognize the whole 1TB now –> right click on the NTFS partition –> format –> Format all to FAT32 (also used Quick format)

First it will not display FAT32 conversion. Unplug the external HD safely, replug it back in pc/latop so it’ll recognize it as FAT32. Finish.

I would unplug it and plug it in again.

Then look disk manager and choose the one without any coloured lines, which could possibly the CD/DVD Drive,so something other than the CD/DVD drive would be your HDD and click create new simple volume.
