Hi.I have got my Seagate 1TB connected to my XBOX via USB.I have my entire database of movies, music and photos that i browse via the XB dashboard.

I disconnect my plugs main when going to sleep due to the frequent lightning and power surges.I have noticed when i power on the plugs ,my HDD comes on even though my XBOX is off.I understand that its getting the power from the XBOX USB.To power off the drive(since i am not using it) I power on my console and then after a few seconds I power it off .In this process it turns the Seagate drive off.

Is there anything i can do to stop this instead of manually plugging it in the USB port.Is there any risk of having it on idle the entire day?

Your thread is in the wrong section for the answer.
Try the console hardware section - you might have better luck there.

Happy now blondie?
:p

Ecstatic thanks :p

I actually don't think that the wrong section is the problem. Most regular users probably use the new posts button and the thread title pretty much pin points the thread topic.

But anyway we are taking the OPs thread off topic now. I know nothing about XBOX hence my lack of advice.

i guess you could you could switch the xbox off at the mains when you're not using it or leave the USB HDD unplugged.
