I bought a Freecom 1TB 3.5" USB 3.0 External from esquire today, but it doesn't work in either of my USB 3 ports, it pops up a prompt asking to format and when I click format it says it can't. It works fine on USB 2 and I have already formatted it on there. I know the USB 3 ports work as I plug my USB 3 flash drive in there. Any ideas, no point in a USB 3 drive that only works on USB 2.

Secondly, have you actually formatted the drive at all? Because you need to format it before you can actually use it!

Yeah all formatted and copying on the USB 2 drive. Looked some more and seems the USB3 chipset I have is NEC, which has issues that were never fixed 
. Latest drivers and all, strange that the flash drive works fine though
