External subtitles question

So I have an avi. and the subtitles is an .smi file.

The subtitle works but the words only comes out as symbols, (the subtitle is in Korean). English comes out fine.

How do I fix this problem?

From what I understand you have a different character set that comes out in symbols? That means that the specific character set is not available on the computer. You could try installing language support (Somewhere in Control Panel there should be a language thingy where you can add languages).
