I'm currently on Telkom 386 with a 2 gig cap, but if I go over, or expect that I will, can I buy additional gigs for that month? If so, how, and how much?

If you top up with Telkom do the GB get used the same way as your usual capacity. What I mean is that my 2GB is more like 3.5GB before you get capped. Does the top up get capped exactly at 1GB or do you get a bit extra?

Rather buy the extra from Webafrica as unused bandwidth carries over to the next month. With Telkom you lose what you don't use.

Someone else need to tell you if you get extra if you top up with Telkom.

You get what you pay for (in this instance)

My experience in January was that you get not one Byte more than what you purchase. I once purchased 1Gb and it was immediately available and then blocked exactly after 1GB. Had to purchase more after that.

Best to get topup from people like WebAfrica and Axxess for the stated reason that is carriesd over for something llike 2 years if not indefinitely.

AFAIK Webafrica prepaids carries indefinitely while the Axxess Engen/PnP vouchers carry 1 year.

AFAIK Webafrica prepaids carries indefinitely ...

In my experience with WA the Prepaid system has two components (per their usage summary:

(a) "fixed cap" which is the basic prepaid (can be anything in 1GB increments) which is NOT carried over and for which you are conveniently automatically invoiced every month until you cancel and

(b) "prepaid" the top-up component which DOES carry over for some time after the end of the month.

Therefore, the first gig that you buy from WA may not be carried over! Axxess prepaid may be what you need if all you need is less than 1G to carry you until the next month, and you want to keep unused portion for the next month.

the fixed cap probably relates to those that buy packages other than prepaid. I have had a 1GB prepaid from WA that I didn't use for two months.
