Was reading about the Vox / Dealstream fiasco and got to wondering about extradition policies between countries.

Apparently Russell Leigh from Dealstream nicked R 17 million worth of shares from Vox and skipped to Israel. As we have no extradition treaty there is nothing we can do.

Does anyone know which countries SA has extradition treaties with ?

If someone from SA traveled to Israel, assassinated a politician then escaped back here, he would be untouchable ( legally ) ?

I understand there are issues of fair justice and fair punishment - eg lengthy jail terms for bonking on a beach in Dubai seems excessive by our standards, but surely it is incumbent on countries not to harbour and protect fraudsters, murderers, sexual pervs etc ?

South Africa currently has extradition agreements with the following countries:

Again one can't believe everything you read -

Vox has filed a charge against the former owner of Dealstream with the Office of Serious Economic Offences, but will now leave the matter to the authorities, says executive chairman Tony van Marken.

The collapse of Dealstream wiped out Reed's shareholdings and a total of 29 million shares were “misappropriated”.

Dealstream's former CEO, Russell Leigh, fled to the UK and is now believed to be in Israel, a country with which SA has no extradition treaty.
