Extremely Slow Browsing

I am experiencing incredibly slow browsing on our company line as well as my home line. Sites like soccernet.com take forever to open. Click on a link takes forever, go back to the front page and still takes forever to reload it.

I have tried asking Telkom Internet what is wrong, but that doesn't help. Get the same response everytime, contact 0800375375, if they had ever tried phoning that number themselves they would see why people don't.

Is this isolated, is anyone else experiencing extremely poor internet access?

Don't think it is specific too ADSL, or being capped, I'm also experiencing bad browsing from the office on a dedicated 128 international line.

I'm on ADSL and everything seems to be fine. I'm from Durban so maybe its a area problem?

so far so amazing.....

:) hmm well surprised enough to mention though i dont have adsl only isdn... i read some time ago in a post that someone having probs with dropped isdn lines discovered a creeper on the telephone pole... so with all the dropped lines and weird stuff on our landline we also endure i go have a look ... Bingo! massive creeper covering the whole pole :D
So i ring Faults Wednesday and report and whoa ! 'Tarrant' from Telkom phones me the next morning/yesterday to verify the problem. An hour later he calls back again to say he has been out to check the pole and will arrange to have it cleared. Now THAT is scary !!!!
I now wait with interest to see how long before the actual job is done but am totally impressed so far :D

ROFL

It was one of the telkom technicians that came out to fix the line - told me that creepers grow into the box & "fiddle with the lines".

At the time I treated the whole thing with much scepticism & thought the technician was extrapolating into a whole anti-telkom conspiracy theory.

The creeper on the pole affecting my isdn line was a 'wisteria'- so i'm told, what sort of creeper does your telkom pole have? (Maybe there is something to this - not).

:)

Creeper revolt ! I Love it. Maybee all of those waiting for ADSL lines should phone Teklom and warn them that a creeper has moved in and the creeper is offering to do some damage to help speed things up.

wisteria? heheh indeed i think not

:D just a fast growing succulent type creeper and its HUGE ... but i repeat i suffer no illusions about its removal making a blind bit of difference to this isdn line ...
i frankly found the speed of the Faults tecchies fascinating... will post if andwhen they eventually remove it whether it stops the line dropping or not heh...
:)

When the techie gets down off the pole, tell him he missed a spot, then ask him how much he would charge to do your garden over the weekend... :D

On 2nd thought maybe not such a good idea if you want to keep your telephone lines.

Hell, what next?!

See, the thing is that the advance guard of an alien race of bandwidth speed-eating bacteria have invaded the ISDN space, and we're battling to conquer them - so far, all we can do is sit and wait it out, in the hope that they'll die in our environment. We think they haven't adapted yet, so we stand a good chance of victory in the end...
(apologies to HG Wells purists)

Creepers? Jeepers! Something wrong with your Peepers?
(apologies to the musical purists)

Do creepers affect MW connectivity .............? :))))))

That's a question that BDT can answer- attack of the vegetation monsters, in the case of MW it's more likely to be a horde of stinking orcs pissing on the international link/routers... ;)

I had a long conversation with my creeper this afternoon.
After a half hour of one-way conversation I eventually told the creeper to shut up.
They'll never make a difference if they keep on talking like that.
And they expect food and water from me.
Can you believe the audacity ?
