Extremely slow connection

Hi Guys

Could anyone assist me with this problem? I'm using a new E230 modem and the EDGE connection is very slow. I'm in the JHB CBD, for some reason we only get EDGE here and not 3G. Does anyone have any suggestions on something I could try? I'm using the 'internet' APN.

Get an external aerial. www.poynting.co.za. Make sure that the software is set to connect to quickest connection. Might be set at 2G only

Very strange this, if I use my phone as a modem I get normal EDGE speeds. Why on earth would the modem be so slow?
