Extremely slow Option 3G/GPRS "Quad Lite"

I am running SuSE 9.0 with 2.4.21 kernel and believe(?!?) I have the card set up properly and working. Speed is extreley slow however making it impossible to use.

Any suggestions ???

I had my Novatel working just fine on SuSE 9.1 and SuSE 9.3 ... not sure about the Option though

Can you paste what "serial" port the card uses - if it uses ttyS* - NOT usb is there - then try the "hack" on the Linux howto - setserial

Hey carlb,

Please PM me the output of lsmod with the card in. Also, if you don't mind, include some messages when you insert the card (from /var/log/messages)

I got the same problem, but its with fedora 3. My modem(novatel) connects, but the transfer rate is very very very slow. The funny thing is that i have the same problem with Mandriva linux 2005. Anyways, i have had this problem for a while now. I got it working nicely(GPRS / 3G) with a speaking kernel of fedora 3. Since then i've downloaded about 6 newer kernels for fedora and get the same problem. So i don't know, but i think there is a post here somewhere that sets you card up with a low latency setting. This might work.

I would think that the port is sending garbage until it is init'ed, or it send more data that it claimed.

It might not work on the usb-serial convertors, it shouldn't matter that the "service" failed.
