Extremely Sore Ankle/Foot During Match

I play football every Saturday in a league, so it's shin pads, boots and socks and all that.
Always without fail, I get a very tight pain, almost cramp like but not quite, at the bottom of my right foot, underneath, as well as my lower calf.
Round about that area.

Now I know most will say stretch, but I make extra effort to stretch my lower right leg and ankle.
This will happen in the first half. In the second half there will be no pain at all, it's as if it needed a massive warm up first.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I was thinking maybe boots or shin pads could be influencing it. My boots are quite old, been sitting in the cupboard for five years, before that used them for two years and after the five years used them for one season.

Thanks for any help.

Try taking some biotin supplements, drink sufficient water and maybe a multi vit too. Not sure how solid the science backing is on the biotin but supposedly it helps with cramps.

Description is kinda vague. If you feel its more of a muscle thing then the above should help. If its more the joint then I'd watch it carefully. Some of the rheumatic things exhibit this "needs a massive warm-up" business.

Avoid stretching the muscles beforehand pre se. Rather do so light movement exercises like some light jogging as opposed to stationary stretches.

If you don't experience these problems when wearing shoes or trainers, then it is boot related. Either replace or use an inner sole; it could be as a result of stud pressure on the soles of your feet.
