Well I'll have to wait till Monday so I can d/l on the work's diginet line..*mutters something about Mweb & 3GB cap*

I've read the preview on GameSpy and it seems this will be another "upgrade" game.

thanx :) official site http://www.whatisfear.com/us/ they got a list of mirrors there too ... the game looks absolutely awesome ... cant wait to give a a try

Can't seem to link to Gamespot and the download from the offical site is like 2k per second.

Torrent seems better, 10k average except the upload is running at the same rate, so it's double the download.

Everyone and their dog seems to be downloading this demo and as usual, there's no local mirrors - what a suprise.

SGS will probably have it a week from now. ;)

After reading some of the comments on Blues News, I cancelled that torrent download.
Seems like even with a P3 and a 6800, the performance can be bad.

So, unless you've got a decent rig, don't bother.

Well I downloaded it via bitorrent from click using an unshaped account from saol and got 35k-40k down. The demo is 670megs to download and once installed 1.2gigs.
I played it 1024x768 on meduim settings and it doesnt run to bad. The scare factor and use of langauge is deffinetly on the mature side so beware.

Ok - thanks - finally got a d/l intialised after a bit of waiting - 30k and climbing.

So much for the SGS File Vault, waste of bloody time.
Either the admins are too damn lazy to keep it up to date, or they aren't allowed to get the latest files.

Looks like a hacked up hl2 engine, shouldnt be to bad with loads of eye-candy ;)

It's using the litech engine - basically the same engine as NOLF2, except obviously upgraded to feature all the latest 3D real time rendering goodies.

5 hours to download it - not that I'm in any rush. 30gig of data at least allows a south african to get a small glimpse of what real broadband must be like ;)

i pulled it down at a measily 220k/s ;-)

Gonna jam it now, hopefully its fun since Im so damn bored...

just played it - seems like its gonna be awesome :) demos a little short - but thats how it is i guess ;) now i just gotta wait till they release it .... better not hold my breath

Finally its out after all the teaser of the game !!! Aslo trying to download it but its slow. Cant wait for to finish so I can install it

got it and just run a few mins of it since it was too late... a tad scary with some Japanese horror themes thrown in, graphics mostly on high except for the lighting quality, sound on EAX HD is very decent and positioning is good... dont see why this is going to be an "upgrade" game to me... hope the multiplayer aspect is more than just the usual vanilla types out there...

I'm not too impressed with it so far. Seems like a pretty generic shooter with "bullet time" thrown in.

It ran sluggishly on my system at 1280x1024 (P4 3.2, ATI 9800XT, 2Gigs).

how did you get it to run @ 1280x1024? there is no such settings under the video options in the game? i need that res since its native for my LCD...

i played through some of the demo. Looks pretty cool.

The AI was pretty impressive. I was up against a sqaud of about 5 soldiers. I took out the first 4 couple, and the last one started playing hide and seek with me.

I like the horror-type cues where they try giving you a fright, by certain changes in the music and so-forth. Looks like the final game is going to be pretty good.

(still waiting for a demo of Prey... now THAT looks awesome).

My mistake. It was 1280x960 that I used.

at tweakguides they do actually show you how to modify the CFG file to get that res... but the game was intended to be run at 4:3 ratio resolutions. Finished the demo but it was a tad short, impressive though... and paranormaly scary too... looks like an interesting title to get while S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is being endlessly delayed...
