F1 2012 thread

Four of their pit crew ended up in the middle of a bit of a scuffle last night - apparently had a Molotov cocktail drop next to their car. They weren't specifically targeted, mind you, they just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time on the way back to the hotel.

They did run in FP1, but they'll be leaving the circuit early so they can be back at their lodgings before dark.

All things considered, I don't think F1 should've been in Bahrain this weekend... :(

Thanks! Sound on SS2 is (or was) dodgy, so prolly missed the story (and then of course the commentators think you know the story, so they don't repeat it).

Yup two have requested to go home.

They were idiotic to give this the green light, it could still end in tears. The protestors will use this as an opportunity to show the world their plight but if they attack or kill anyone related to f1 i don't really think it will help their cause.

For bernie to put these guys in such danger is disgusting.

Yeah its such an unnecessary sign of disrespect for democracy and freedom in Bahrain

To be honest, I think Schumacher has lost that hunger to be the best. Sure going out in Q1 today might be a team error by letting him sit, but for the past couple of races now this season there has been too much smiling, winking at the camera, telling the team not to sweat it, being jovial...even when things have gone wrong. He seems like a real nice guy... And that's what's different right there...the Schumi of old was focused, determined even ruthless and could be described as courteous at best... That Schumi got poles and wins...

This season he finally got a real competitive car since his comeback, but there is just that lack of a fierce desire to get on top... Maybe it's bad luck, maybe it's the realisation that the young guns are just too fast, too good to be beaten...

Schumacher is an arse, always has been.

Amazingly Vic and Tomato are even more annoying in Martinengo's absence - at least he can somewhat lead and manage a studio discussion; these two dimbulbs are just floundering along.

Oh really? Mercedes is to blame here.

Doesn't change the fact. My remark is not in relation to what happened to him today, but as a general observation on his entire career & him as a human being. There is nobody I like seeing fail more.

Oh I see.

I'd rather prefer to see Robert Mugabe or Julias Malema fail. But if you are only referring to sports people, what about the cheats rather. I would love to see Bernie de-throned.

I'll qualify my 'nobody' as being specific to F1 over my 2-and-a-bit decades of following the sport. The entire list of people whose failings I'd relish is a bit too lengthy for a forum post. :D

Go vettel you beauty, shummi had an issue with the car if i heard right. Perhaps vettel can show hamilton how to win from the front tomorrow. Give the lad a car capable of pole and he will deliver.

He has the worst luck but he will have loads of good tires tomorrow.

We are in for one hell of a competitive season! Mclaren seem to have a package that has suited all tracks so far though.

High downforce track suiting Redbull again. It's last year and the year before all over. How did Redbull start last year and the year before?

@satanboy lol @ Schumi vs 'Cheats' yet not seeing the irony.

2010 they improved from mid season to be the best car by end of year. 2011 they tore the place apart. At this pace 2012, is like 2010

Mercedes didn't do so well in this qualifying.

Wasn't too bad, they are not far off the pace. Shummi had an issue with drs and they could not fix it.

It is interesting that kimi chose not to get into the top to save tires. According to the reports have i read tires wear is going to be very high.

Shummi still in the race, too soon to count him out! Vettel ftw though.

Haptic, Shummi = Schumacher, greatest race car driver of our time, get it? Good! :D
