F1 2012 thread

Ag please let it happen next week already ... ever since he took that knock against the head he's been slow as hell

It doesn't even have to be Maldonado, **** they can even give Barrichello another chance for all I care!!!

Food for thought ... Kobayashi in a Ferrari would be spectacular and would triple Ferrari sales in Japan overnight :)
You should work in marketing LOL, boy ferrari would be big in japan :p, not too mention we would get to see the best over taker in f1 in a decent car.

+1 on Kobayashi in a Ferrari. We need a Japanese champion I think.

Koboyahsi in a better car sure would be fun. Though at Ferrari he probably would be told to reign it more...can't do kamikazi (:p) manoeuvres all the time. He would be more suited at a team trying to prove itself and get up there...perhaps with Kimi at Lotus? Talk about a crazy gang! :D

me thinks Algesuari would be better than Senna in the Williams.

Good start by Williams, but I doubt they will be able to develop the car to keep in the top 10 for the rest of the season.

Good to see Kimi hasn't lost any of his racing mojo!

Why Ferrari.... WHY!?!?!?!?!??!
Well from Alonso's position on grid to his finishing slot wasn't bad, but this is going to be a painful season to watch.

On Massa, I feel he and Hamilton are similar. When they perform well, they outshine the rest, but let them have a bad day..........
Hamilton is a little more consistant than Massa though.

Overall I enjoyed the race, even though Ferrari didn't seem in it. Some good overtakes and a lot of scrapping! That's the icebreaker out the window at least. Now it's to see who and what changes throughout the season. *Sniffs the air* Man I love F1!!!!

Enjoyed the first race of the season! Really glad Button won and out shone Hamilton.

Hamilton looked like he wanted to cry afterwards during the post race press conference. He always seems to be a bad loser.

Not to mention the idiots DSTV has commentating (Sasha and crew) Some of the comments those twits come up with is rediculous. Might as well turn the sound off.

Looking forward to Malaysia though :D

Lewis Hamilton says post-race analysis has helped him pinpoint why he slipped back in the Australian Grand Prix, leaving him in a far more optimistic frame of mind heading into Malaysia.

"After the race in Australia, it was difficult to understand exactly what happened," Hamilton explained. "I was generally happy with the car all weekend, but just lacked a bit of pace compared to Jenson in the race.

"Afterwards, I sat down with my engineers and we went through all the data. There was a small issue with the clutch at the start: it wasn't my fault, but we now understand and know how to improve in the future."

I think Sasha is the worst there. He just prunes the internet and rehashes it. Like he knows something. Its quite hard to listen to the guy. Only my love for the sport trumps my hate for that guy!

Yea but didn't he have the whole race to beat jenson? What happened for the other 58 laps when jenson was faster and better?

I think if hamilton had got off proper he would still have been nailed by button. It's going to be tough for hamilton to beat button. If button can ensure he qualifies well he will be world champion. He qualifies to far down to ever be a threat. Hamilton needs to stop looking for excuses and say button beat me cause he was better, how do i improve to chase him down.

The biggest issue hamilton has is that button can keep good pace and still keep his tires in good shape, where as hamilton chews threw his rubber much faster, if he cannot get on top of that button will nail him again this year.

FP3 was very interesting. Seems as if McLaren are sandbagging and Mercedes have some decent pace. Massa might be in trouble, again. All I really learn't from FP3 was that qualifying is going to be a cracker.

Those McLarens are mighty fast! Vettel needs to up his game Out qualified by Webber then decides to go on the harder tyres. Hopefully it works out in the race :/

Only out qualified due to the tires, it was clever for redbull to split it though. Going to be mighty interesting.

Hamilton put in such a good lap and could have gone faster but button is now qualifying really well and i can see him beating hamilton off the line again. I hope hamilton gets away clean, i want to see button beat hamilton where there can be no excuses. Boy this season is awesome and lotus are looking awesome.

We have 4 teams who all look like they have the ability to win to races which i have not seen in a long time. Cannot wait for tomorrow!!!!!!!! I have to say ferrari should drop massa and hire perez he looks an absolute super star.

Vettels first run was on the softer tire and Webber still beat him. Honestly until Red-Bull can improve on their quali McLaren is just going to keep running away with it. Last season showed how important that top spot on Saturday is. With the new Tyres you cant afford to push the entire race.

Well the race will be different again IMO, last week showed the redbull had the race pace. It may not qualify well but it may work better with a full belly and perhaps it could be easier on the tires.

We know the merc sadly won't have the race pace due to their system only working during quali.

Yeah true, looking at last year as well McLaren had better race pace than Red-Bull during the start. Hell Hamilton won one race and was close second for a few others. Still look how that turned out. Still early but I expect not much will change. McLaren will build a nice lead and if any teams catch them it'd be to late. That's the way of the sport. Dominating the first few race almost guarantees you the WCC and WDC

...

Nothing 'clever' about it, according to Seb himself...

"There's not much strategy behind it to be honest," he said. "I was struggling with the soft[er] tyres and thought I had a better car on the hard tyres, which is why I made the call. We could have gone maybe a tenth or two quicker on the soft tyre but then we went significantly faster on the hard tyre. Whether that is an advantage tomorrow ... we are the only ones [in the top ten on hard tyres] so we hope it might be, but we'll see."

more

It might work a treat for them tomorrow, but it wasn't a strategic decision.

Does anyone know if the race will be on the Supersport website tomorrow?
