F1 2014 thread

Wait let me get this. So Michael runs down the pit lane to assault some one and according to you it is understandable. And Lewis needs to grow up because he registered displeasure, protest or whatever you want to call it because he felt that, whether rightly of wrongly, his teammate had cheated. Doesn't that also fall in the "heat of the moment" for which you so easily forgive Michael for.

Michael parks his his car on track to prevent Alonso beating him. But yeah he is a hero and grown up. Lol.

BTW I think LH should have handle the situation better, but to suggest Micheal or any other racing driver is better is just crazy.

Yeah ngwe23, apparently taking the opposition out on the track isn't considered a public trantrum - it's professional cheating. He's professional it seems :D

Hamilton whinged on Saturday, fair enough. The he whinged before the race on Sunday. Whinged during the race on Sunday. Whinged on the podium. At some point a grown man has to step back and realise that this is something that needs to be sorted out privately.

Michael climbed out of his car minutes after plowing into the back of someone at high speed, stormed off, said what he said to the person involved, then approached the stewards and has his say. The ranting stopped with the people it needed to involve.

If Hamilton has beef with Rosberg then stop behaving like a manchild and go speak to the man in private instead of crying every time a camera is on you. THAT is my point. Michael had one public outburst and it was quickly taken behind closed doors. Hamilton had ample time to cool off and take care of matters privately but seemingly took every opportunity to air the laundry.

Regardless of his on-track indiscretions he kept off-track business quiet. Even if it involved controversy, it stayed behind closed doors.

Quite an offer for Newey to go to Ferrari IMO. Especially creating a road car, something Red Bull cant give him. They can certainly afford to match the money though...

Perna said Ferrari was offering Newey unprecedented technical freedom, his own road-going supercar project and involvement in a possible Le Mans prototype bid. Not to mention annual pay equivalent of about of about R240-million a year.

So basically you love Micheal, and everything he does is OK, and you hate Lewis, and everything he does is bad? Amazing how you can justify Micheal and, a sentence later, castigate Lewis. It may very well be the case that Lewis' behaviour was out of line, but that should apply to Micheal as well. I mean, we are talking about a guy who threatened and attempted to assault another driver, a driver who Micheal drove into :wtf: and in your eyes "he kept off-track business quiet". LOL. What a fanboy. The guy who parked his car on track to prevent Alonso taking pole. But no, according to you, "his on-track indiscretions...stayed behind closed doors".

The point I am making is that all these guys Alonso, Lewis, Senna, Vettel and Micheal are cut from the same cloth, they want to win at all cost, and if things dont go their way they are not the most rational human being. If you want a nice guy Jenson is your guy. Don't be selective in your judgement, but I get it, you are a fanboy.

Many people agree.

Through this Rosberg will have tipped the fan scale a bit in his favour. Always a nice thing and great for self-motivation.

Nonetheless, great to be pushing competitiveness even if like this.

I would not quite make that comparison yet. The youngsters still have sometime before they join that league.

No comparison made, simply highlighting that they are driven by the same passion. The great guys didn't become good by playing Mr Nice Guy.

No Staggy, he can whinge all he wants, he's not there to please you lol, he's there to win the WC and he'll do it this year, I have no doubt short of equipment issues.

I don't think passion is debated here, yes they are all addicted to winning. Its the indirect attributes of a champion, many people consider that, some don't, each to his own.

Canada will provide an even playing field for both Lewis and Nico with many overtaking spots for what's essentially a street track. It won't be a simple pole to finish type of race.

What are the odds that they take each other out fighting for pole? Then I think we'll see some lost tempers.

Personally I just think the media is milking this rivalry. It's what sells news.

There's a strong possibility that they could take each other out at the start of the race or during the race. We've seen that happen at McLaren and Red Bull before :D

Agree with this post. Canada is a unique track with lots of opportunities. The start/ finish chicane and pont de la concorde are hotspots for me, and the long straights will favour the Merc power.

Don't think anyone will challenge the Mercs for podium in Canada.

Exactly, was thinking of previous incidents, and this one has all the potential. Two relatively young yet highly skilled drivers in the seasons' best car, both vying for this year's crown. Unless something drastic happens relatively soon, either Hamilton or Rosberg will be this year's champion, so it comes down to asserting authority and gaining a meaningful point lead as quickly as possible. All of a sudden the battles get more intense as every point is vital, and the drivers will push to the limit to keep the other one behind them. The amount of available points dwindles, and technical issues could perhaps throw a spanner in the works (one DNF is a huge points loss for them). It's only a matter of time before one of them closes the door on the other during a pass that has been fully committed to and bam, two drivers off, fistcuffs at dawn.

I remember that - wasn't there another similar incident on the same part of the track the same race weekend?
