Instead you have a pay-driver doing literally nothing in the car but earning a salary. If Stroll Sr. was serious about moving that team up, he'd need to replace his son.

Im just trying find a common metric to show he's not terrible but agree they could have a more worthy driver in that seat. I would never compare him to Alonso - hence the previous team mate comparison.

Stroll led more laps however Perez still took 3/5ths of the points due to the Sakhir win.

There may be better drivers for that seat but he's not exactly Mazepin.

I do agree that if they had a better driver in that seat they'd be doing much better in the constructors.

That is a very selective way of looking at things. Over the 6 (and change) years that he has been in F1, he has shown some form in patches but lacks the consistency to deserve a seat.

Do you even read what you link to? It essentially comes to the same basic conclusion - “ My honest opinion on Stroll's driving abilities is that he has abillity to be F1 driver now.” Could AM do better? Sure.

I can understand why he is frustrated though, he probably feels he should be fighting for wins not battling it out in the midfield. I do wonder if he has some clause in the new contract that if 2024's car is still not that competitive that he can walk away at the end of next year or will he push through into 2025. Is that 8th title that important for his legacy?

Lewis did the same with Rookie Albon when he was at RB, he knows what he is doing Albon quoting at the time of the incident, "He is a such a sore loser" indicating he knew it was on purpose

A lot of these drivers are sore losers - that's part of what makes them the best - that competitiveness that borders on arrogance and unprofessionalism at times

It's not that clear cut. Daddy Stroll owns around 25% of Aston Martin, and while the biggest shareholder, there are other interests at play (including Mercedes and the Saudi PIF). If the other investors see opportunity to make more money, pressure could come from within to shake things up.

But in this case both of those owners potentially profit more by holding AM back as MB want to protect the works Team and Saudi PIF want to protect McLaren.

It is possible that the shareholding doesn't necessarily include certain decision or voting rights.

Here's a list of the major shareholders. Lots of players. Shu Fu Li is an automotive heavyweight, founder-chairman of Geely (who own among others Volvo Cars, the Lotus Group and Smart).

They would still be outvoted if MB and or PIF sided with Stroll.
And if all three of them combine that is 51.579% so could never be outvoted.
However, I have no inside information, I was just speculating about cross shareholdings in competing F1 Teams.
There could be an infinite number of reasons why stroll has retained his seat over and above nepotism.
 
I thought CH was looking a little thinner, must have been hell having that tight catering budget.

That or the fact that they realised they are now effectively toothless after botching up last years infringement and it couldn't give the entire Grid a slap on the wrist, so it let all "minor infringements" slide this year. :unsure::whistling:
